Dave Thomas is Vice President and General Manager of, BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair. In his role, Dave leads the operation of a 1000+ employee workforce, 109 acre facility, 5 piers, 2 floating dry-docks and shops in support of government/commercial ship maintenance and modernization.
Dave has been with BAE Systems, Norfolk Ship Repair since June 2006. Prior to pursuing a career in the private sector ship repair industry, Dave served on active duty in the US Navy for twenty-six years including tours on USS PUGET SOUND (AD-38), USS IOWA (BB-61), USS ASHLAND (LSD-48), Chief Engineer tours on USS GUAM (LPH-9), USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC-20) and USS NASSAU (LHA-4) His shore assignments include two tours as Repair Officer, Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity Norfolk and Production Officer for Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance.
Dave and his wife live in Virginia Beach and have two grown sons.
