Virginia Ship Repair Association Board of Directors (Small Business Member)

Until October 2013, Jim Yohe was the Habitability Division and Business Development Director of George G. Sharp, Inc.  A small business size corporation providing design, engineering, and technical service support to repair and modernize U.S. Navy ships in the Coastal Virginia area and throughout the globe.  He joined the Sharp Team in August 2012 after serving 31 years in the U.S Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer.  During his first year with George G. Sharp, Inc., Jim conducted all capture management, drafted technical proposals and final solicitation responses to successfully re-compete and win NSWCCD Philadelphia’s new five year multiple award Habitability Contract.  He directs the company’s Habitability production operations from Sharp’s Virginia Beach office.

Jim’s previous naval service included numerous operational East Coast Destroyer and Cruiser surface combatant tours culminating with command tours in USS Cape St. George (CG 71) from 20004 to 2006, and USS Mahan (DDG 72) from 1999 to 2000.   His sea tours included combat operations that ranged from direct-fire piracy operations off the coast of Somalia to multiple-ship land attack operations against Iraq in Desert Storm, and deployments worldwide.  His ashore assignments included serving in the U.S Embassy in Pakistan, Navy Headquarters /OPNAV  Staff and Joint Staff in the Pentagon, and Type Commander positions as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Requirements (N8) for Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific and Atlantic while stationed in Norfolk.

Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in Naval Science from U.S. Naval Academy in 1982.  He holds a master’s degree in Systems Engineering from U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. and completed the Navy Executive Business Course at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business.

Jim and his wife, Rose reside in the Great Bridge community of Chesapeake and are the proud parents of nine children.
