Jim Baur is Senior Vice President and serves on the Senior Management Team of Jo-Kell Inc. A privately held electrical distributor and assembler of engineered systems for defense, maritime and industrial applications. Jo-Kell is a Woman Owned Small Business headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia and with branches located in Jacksonville, Florida and San Diego, California.
Mr. Baur has (39) years of consecutive management in the maritime industry and currently in his (10th) year with Jo-Kell, with prior service with Miami Propeller Company, Miami, Florida and Lips Propellers, Inc. in Chesapeake, Virginia, Oakland, California and Seattle, Washington.
In an executive capacity, Mr. Baur has experience with operations management, profit & loss responsibility, sales management, and business development with expertise in strategic planning, legislative representation, acquisitions and executive recruitment. He currently holds a National Security Clearance of TOP SECRET.
Mr. Baur graduated from the Indiana University School of Business in 1972 and received a Masters in Business Administration from Butler University in 1978. He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army Reserve in 1974.
He is a lifetime member of the U.S. Navy League and a sustaining member of the American Society of Naval Engineers. Mr. Baur is a former chairman of the Governor’s School for the Arts Foundation Board, the Military Diplomats of Hampton Roads, the Chesapeake United Way, the Chesapeake Port Authority and a former Regional Officer of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Baur and his wife of (41) years, Suzanne have three grown children, two grandchildren and reside in Suffolk, Virginia
