POSTPONED: Introduction to Blueprint Reading & Technical Drawing (April 27-May 1)

Presents purposes and principles of drafting and sketching covering a variety of naval ship drawings which the craftsman or technician is normally required to read and interpret accurately to accomplish work. All aspects of Blueprint layout, components, handling and security according to military specifications are covered, along with lines, math and measurements involved in drawings. Involves single, two and three view drawings, view types with sectional views, principles of projections, dimensioning, with universal standards abbreviations and  symbols. Further analysis of drawing and relevant symbols and the conveyance of work instructions for NDT, weld, brazing, pipe, structural, machine and electrical tasks is provided. Assessment is achieved through hands-on practical demonstration of knowledge and understanding both individually and in team groups; homework assignments designed to encourage analysis and understanding of visual, spatial and technical aspects of drawings, in class quizzes and a final exam in written and practical form.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN TO TAKE THIS COURSE
