Welder II

Serco provides comprehensive support for mission-critical communications and IT systems used by military, intelligence and civilian government clients. We are fully capable of providing C5ISR installation services onboard all classes of US Navy ships (Carriers, Surface Ships and Submarines) as well as at shore facilities. Our services also support SPAWAR, NAVSEA, NAVAIR, and NAVFAC throughout the entire C5ISR systems lifecycle – from design and development, through system accreditation, installation and sustainment, to technical refresh. The Welder II works on a team supporting cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations. The Welder II joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Applicants Performs a variety of complicated tasks including: -Interprets specifications, drawings, blueprints, shop job orders and, process sheets -Uses a variety of ARC and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as foundations, cable collars, cable/pipe/vent hangers, cable tubes penetrations, studs, etc. -May perform related task such as thermal cutting (PLASMA or TORCH) and grinding -Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. -Assigns work to qualified personnel -May train new shop personnel on machinery, tools and test equipment required for quality construction of products Work is performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations requiring the ability to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation. Must be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position.
