The June General Membership Luncheon meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel. The Guest Speaker will be Mr. Stanley J. Dutko, Jr., OSHA Area Director, Norfolk Area Office. 

The May General Membership Luncheon meeting was held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel. The luncheon featured presentation of the annual Virginia Ship Repair Foundation Tradesmen of the Year Awards, presented by PNC Bank. These awards honor the "best of the best" ship repairers in Hampton Roads.

Wayne K. "Billy" Johnson, Sr., 85, of Chesapeake passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Billy was one of the founding fathers of the South Tidewater Association of Ship Repairers (STASR) which was later to become today’s Virginia Ship Repair Association. 

The phone rang at Sherry’s house early in the morning. It was the HR manager at a subcontractor’s office where Sherry had applied for a job.  Mrs. Jones was calling to set up an interview for Sherry the next morning.

There is a misconception in the ship repair industry that only management professionals and college graduates need a resume; not tradesmen and women. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Virginia Ship Repair Foundation would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the dedicated volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to represent the Ship Repair Industry during local Career Day Events in the 2015-2016 school year! This school year, Foundation volunteers reached over 10,000 Middle and High School students!
