FSG Engineer Systems 4 HII FLEET SUPPORT GROUP (0480) Norfolk-Virginia-United States 27180BR External Job Description Position Specifics: *Interim SECRET level security clearance is required for this position. The selected candidate must have a minimum of ten (10) years of general hands-on mechanical experience with US Navy HM&E equipment and have at least five (5) years specialized hands-on experience. Detailed experience with regard to the microprocessor, PLC, and electrical controllers associated with ship’s air conditioning, refrigeration, all types of air compressors, and electronic cooling water systems is required. An Electrical Engineering degree can offset some specific experience. The selected candidate will be required to: • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits. • Demonstrate regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment. • Demonstrate ability for interpreting wiring diagrams and control schematics. • Utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes. • Communicate effectively in writing and orally. • Demonstrate an ability to interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics and plans and the ability as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to troubleshoot, analyze and provide distance support for listed equipment. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
