FSG Designer 2 HII FLEET SUPPORT GROUP (0480) Newport News-Virginia-United States 29386BR External Job Description Position Specifics: This positon is contingent upon contract award. The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a CONFIDENTIAL level security clearance. Recent experience developing/reviewing drawings, providing calculations, and engineering analyses that support design requirements is preferred. Engineering experience in one or more of the following specialties for marine applications: mechanical, piping, structure, naval, electrical and/or HVAC is also desired. The following is also preferred for this positon: • Experience with ShipConstructor • Proficiency with the full Microsoft Office suite • Experience using MathCAD and/or Mat Lab. Experience with LCS class. Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments. Ability to work in shipboard environment. Able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, shipboard, shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required. May involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels, riding ships at sea for extended periods. May require the ability to work while wearing a respirator.
