Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing labor and material estimates for various ship repair (Navy, MSC, and US Coast Guard), modernization, and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for all facets of production planning and estimating for shipboard repair and installation initiatives.
Assist Program and Project Managers with Planning and Estimating both Surface and Submarine Alterations, Repair or Fleet Modernization projects.
Analyzes blueprints, drawing packages, and other documentation to prepare time, labor, and material estimates for both shop and shipboard efforts.
Prepares comparative estimates as a basis for selecting qualified subcontractors.
Required Experience:
Must possess a high school, trade, or vocational school degree
5-10 years of direct experience in ship repair and installation planning and estimating in Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Collaboration, and Intelligence Systems (C5I) and Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment on surface ships and submarines.
The ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications, and NAVSEA Standard Items is a must.
Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials
Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces.
Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
