Operations/Production Manager - Norfolk

The Operations Manager is responsible for the direction of multiple supervisors to ensure the cost-effective, on-time completion of projects. This assignment may exist regionally. This position will ensure the company meets schedule objectives and quality goals while maintaining a safe work environment. Will utilize leadership skills by providing technical expertise in designated areas of production and utilize independent judgment and action necessary to maintain operational tempo. This position reports to the Vice President. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Schedule manpower needs and forecast manpower requirements based upon scope of work. • Evaluates resources for upcoming contract awards to enable timely execution of work. • Ensures the project is completed on time and within budget while maintaining quality standards defined by contract provisions. • Works with shipyard project management to effectively schedule tasks. • Schedule subcontractors and rental equipment as needed. • Approve job material requisitions for accuracy. • Evaluates labor and material costs for budget compliance. • Provides details to contract administrator for change order pricing and negotiation. • Interface with customers to ensure their expectations are being met. • Ensure safety standards are adhered to and schedule weekly ‘Toolbox Talks’. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be willing to learn, understand, and promote our ESOP culture. • The successful candidate must possess the physical abilities necessary to perform all aspects of his or her job including but not limited to; general lifting and carrying equipment and tools, bending, and climbing. Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time. Work in various types of weather conditions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Working knowledge of project specifications and how they relate to contract requirements. Familiar with contract pricing and estimating methods. Experience in Government and Commercial preservation efforts. • Understanding of trade specific technical requirements • Solid understanding of safety and environmental regulations. • Exhibit strong organizational, leadership, analytical and communication skills. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • NACE Certification preferred but not required. • 10+ years of experience in the marine sandblasting and painting industry. • 7+ years of experience working as a Superintendent.
