Join our technical support team, as we are looking for junior marine mechanic/maintenance technician to support U.S. Army watercraft. The selected personnel will be performing duties in a junior technician capacity that help conduct preventive maintenance checks & services (PMCS), maintenance and repair services at Fort Eustis, VA. Essential Job Responsibilities Provides technical support on various mechanical related tasking in support of PMCS and/or unplanned maintenance or repair services. Junior technician will be supporting senior mechanic or senior engineer in a support tasking role. Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel. Applies understanding of production and processes to assignments. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May assist in the development and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment. Supports trouble shooting and provides input on solutions specific to diagnosing issues. Responsible for documenting technical information specific to the work order and submitting required paper work. Responsible for conducting maintenance in accordance with applicable technical manuals and/or manufacturers guidelines. May conduct and support operational tests. What you must have... Must have High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of related experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty. Must have preventive maintenance checks & services (PMCS) experience on shipboard systems. Must have hands on experience with the following systems and associated equipment; propulsion, hydraulics, piping, pneumatic, electrical and power generation. Must be able to obtain a DoD secret level clearance and maintain clearance throughout employment. Must be able to obtain base access credentials within the first 60 days of hire and maintain credentials throughout employment. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Preferred: Bonus points for... Candidates with prior hands-on marine engineering or maintenance experience on US Army watercraft systems. Candidates with 88L10/20 transportation school certification or higher are highly desired. Technical shipboard experience Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
