President and Chief Executive Officer, American Maritime Holdings, Inc. (Marine Hydraulics International, Tecnico Corporation, and Ocean Marine Yacht Center)
Mr.Michael Torrechcurrently holds the position of President and CEO, American
Maritime Holdings, Inc. (AMH).. He currently is engaged in the Strategic growth and operations of AMH and its primary holdings (Marine Hydraulics International and Tecnico Corporation). Mr. Torrech has been instrumental in the growth
of several other companies in Hampton Roads, Virginia through theU.S.
Government’s Small Business Administration and DOD Mentor Protégé programs.
Mr. Torrech started his career with Tecnico in 1992. Mr. Torrech served as
President of Técnico Corporation, a Marine and Industrial contractor providing
alteration, installation, and repair services to Navy, Coast Guard, and commercial
vessels from 2000 until July 1 2008 when he took on the new responsibilities with
American Maritime Holdings. His responsibilities included primary oversight of
Técnico including management of all departments and divisions and day-to-day
operational decision-making. He provided the strategic and operational leadership
that helped the company realize it’s goals, objectives and cultural values.
Tecnico’s revenues grew from $ 5 Million in 1992 to over $100 Million in 2006.
Prior to joining Técnico, he served as Director of Estimating for Atlantic Marine
Shipyards, responsible for management of estimating department personnel and
providing estimates for overhaul, repair, and maintenance of commercial, cruise,
and Navy vessels. From 1988 to 1990, Mr. Torrech served as Vice President and
Secretary of Torrech Enterprises Corporation, providingHull, Mechanical, &
Electrical (HM&E) technical services to prime contractors, and was responsible for,
estimating, contract administration, production, and marketing. He received a BS
Mechanical Engineering Technology in 1996 fromOldDominionUniversity. He
was employed with Norfolk Shipbuilding & Drydock Corporation (NORSHIPCO
now BAE Systems,NorfolkShip Repair) from 1978 to 1988.
During his employment with NORSHIPCO, He served as Senior Estimator and
Planner/ Estimator/Contract Administrator. He served an apprenticeship from
1974 to 1978 at NORSHIPCO and graduated as a Journeyman level Shipfitter.
