Engineering Support Analyst II

The selected candidate will provide engineering, design, assembly, and logistics support for the production of shipboard electronics racks for US Coast Guard ships. This position will require the candidate to provide technical support to the Engineering Department and Project Managers in such areas as, development, material identification and procurement support, inventory management, installation, and testing. In general, the selected candidate will be required to apply broad knowledge of engineering design, analysis, evaluation and development of engineering and technical documentation and reports. General Duties : Perform routine tasks under supervision or from detailed procedures Gather, develop, and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc. Perform computations, plot data, and draw simple curves and graphs Assist with preparation of engineering drawings using layouts, models, or sketches of equipment Assist in the development of program/project documentation including: Project schedules and various planning, implementation documents Status reports for project managers and customers Test and quality control forms, reports, and documents Review documents to ensure their conformance to applicable standards and conventions Interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, wiring diagrams and other specifications to determine design and installation procedures Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts as they relate to current job assignment and other improvements throughout the company when identified Comply with OSHA standards and company safety policy and procedures for all assigned tasks Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed Specific Project Responsibilities : Assist with electronics rack engineering, design, and assembly by becoming familiar with program specific: Connector/backshell requirements Internal rack wiring details, methods, and techniques Assist in the development of: Cable run sheets Bill of Materials Engineering data packages System and equipment installation engineering packages Coordinate purchasing, receiving, and inventory or material and equipment with shipping and receiving department personnel, specifically: Track project related equipment and material inventory and requisitions Assist in the unpacking, inventory, inspection and storage of project equipment in accordance with established processes Maintain project tool inventory and inspection Perform functionality assessments and make recommendations for upgrades Security Clearance Requirements: Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Education/Certifications/Specialized Training: Required: High School diploma or GED Desired: Associates or Higher Degree in a relevant technical field, such as Engineering Technology OR Graduation from a Technical School or from a Military Technical Class A or B with electronic installation experience Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Required: Two years of relevant experience Ability to read blueprints and system wiring schematics Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel and Word) Military and industry standards and specifications Familiarity with AutoCAD Detail oriented – able to multi task Desired Two years of experience with the engineering, design, construction, maintenance or assembly of shipboard electronics racks Two years of experience with the installation, modification, operation, maintenance, test, troubleshooting and repair of military electrical or electronic systems and equipment One year of relevant experience with the principles of electricity, electronics, shipboard and/or shore installations and shop supervision Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standards, Shipyard and NAVSEA installation requirements and supporting documentation. Engineering Design workers are typically responsible for the generation of panel layouts, sub assemblies, schematics, wiring diagrams, wire run lists, component selection, etc. for electrical systems of large scale industrial machinery. The main tool for design documentation is AutoCAD.

Job Functions:
•Assure drawings and layouts are accurate, complete, and finished in a timely manner.
•Generation and maintenance of bill of materials and parts lists.
•Applying Engineering design techniques and utilize calculations in support of design/experimental activities.
•Develop electrical wiring schematics, sub-assembly drawings, and bills of material for control system design.
•Identify and solve technical engineering problems.
•Provide or assist in the creation of technical descriptions of operation, equipment checkout procedures, technical reports, user manuals and other documentation as required.
•Release components and system designs for manufacture of orders.
•Estimate man-hours required for tasks and report progress on assigned tasks.
•Provide plans, schedules, and estimates for technical programs.
•Work in conjunction with other groups to organize and plan assigned projects.
Education
A BSEE / BSET or Two Year Electrical Technical Degree is typically required.
Qualifications
1-5 years experience in CAD electrical design related to ship repair/maintenance using recent versions of AutoCAD
Must be able to read, interpret and produce engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, point-to-point drawings, and engineering fabrication drawings
Must be able to work aboard vessels, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Must be a team player
Must be flexible in reference to project priorities
Must be willing to assemble technical manuals
