Applicants must be able to connect, install, and remove wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard ships utilizing blueprints, wiring diagrams, and test equipment. Must be able to install cables in the overhead and underneath false decks according to work specifications. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair simple circuits. Must be able to understand electrical terms, definitions, abbreviations, and ship's layout. Must possess an understanding of the requirements for the isolation and tag-out of electrical and electronic systems in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items. Education

Qualifications
Typically, employers require:
- Minimum of five years verifiable work experience in the ship repair industry
- Basic trade specific knowledge, such as n understanding of power tools and their usage
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the testing and repair of electrical components
- Reliability and dependability
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
