CAPT Lannamann Addresses VSRA Membership

The June VSRA General Membership Luncheon was held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel in the Holley Ballroom. The featured Guest Speaker was CAPT Dan Lannamann, Commanding Officer, Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC).

CAPT Lannamann enlisted in the Navy as a Gunner's Mate (Missile) in 1983 and served on USS TOWERS (DDG 9). In 1988, he reported to Great Lakes as a Gunner's Mate “C” School Instructor.

While on shore duty, CAPT Lannamann enrolled in the Enlisted Education Advancement Program and then transferred directly into the Enlisted Commissioning Program. He was commissioned upon graduation from the University of Maine in 1994 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

CAPT Lannamann then reported to USS STOUT (DDG 55) as Electrical Officer and Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer. Next he reported to USS ASHLAND (LSD 48) as Auxiliaries Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant before reporting to the Naval Post Graduate School in 1998.

While at Naval Postgraduate School, CAPT Lannamann transferred into the Engineering Duty Officer community and earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2001.

Following graduate school, CAPT Lannamann reported to SUPSHIP Ingleside as a Ship's Repair Officer where he completed qualifications as Docking Observer and Engineering Duty Officer. CAPT Lannamann reported to SRF-JRMC Detachment, Sasebo as Production Officer in 2003.

From August 2006 to February 2007, he did an IA with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Gulf Region Division Baghdad, Iraq. During this time he was the Government Lead for all Electrical Transmission Reconstruction Projects throughout Iraq. In June 2007, he reported to PSNS & IMF where he worked Surface Ship’s in Everett. Then in August 2008, he returned to SRF-JRMC Detachment, Sasebo as OIC.

CAPT Lannamann reported as CARL VINSON (CVN 70) Chief Engineer in May, 2011 and served until September 2013. During this tour, VINSON completed a combat deployment to the Arabian Gulf. Additionally, during PIA-12, CAPT Lannamann was the Availability Manager.

In September 2013, CAPT Lannamann reported to Southwest Regional Maintenance Center as the Waterfront Operations, C300 Department Head. While C300, he over oversaw the planning and execution of all Depot Maintenance and Modernization for the 55 home-ported Surface Ships and additional “topside” work on Carriers and Submarines in San Diego. He reported to CNSP as the ACOS for Maintenance and Engineering, N43, in June 2015.

CAPT Lannamann assumed Command of MARMC on 30 September 2016.

CAPT Lannamann is married to the former Vanessa Lynn Mejorado of Rockport Texas; they have four children, Angelica, Brandon, Michael and Leah Marie.
