The first General Membership Luncheon Meeting of 2016 was held on Tuesday, January 26 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel, and featured VSRA President Bill Crow as he provided the Association's Annual Report. Crow spoke to the successes of VSRA and the Virginia Ship Repair Foundation in 2015, and the way-ahead for 2016.

The February 2016 General Membership Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. The guest speaker for the meeting will be the Honorable Paul "Chip" Jaenichen, Maritime Administrator, U.S. Department of Transportation / Maritime Administration.

VSRA's January General Membership Luncheon featured several presentations recognizing excellence across the Membership, including the 2015 Annual Safety Suggestion Award Winner, outgoing Communications Committee leadership team, and VSRA's best-in-the-nation instructor team.

On the 2nd of October, 2015, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cyber Division, released an FBI Flash message identifying a group of overseas cyber actors who compromised and stole sensitive military information from US cleared defense contractors (CDCs) through cyber intrusions.  For many of us, these types of warnings go unheeded, as news reports of hackers stealing information is commonplace. 

Seeing as this is quite a controversial subject about what is and what is not acceptable in terms of cell phone etiquette and safety, I have comprised a list of Do’s and Don’ts that I found on various websites that I feel we should ask ourselves or be aware of.

The 10th Annual Ship Repair Industry Awareness LEGO Competition has officially launched, 18 Schools throughout the Hampton Roads area are participating! Just as we have in past years, this year we will need volunteers to serve as technical advisors and judges. We also need sponsors for this event! This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and represent your company!
