The March VSRA General Membership Luncheon was held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel. The featured Guest Speaker was Senator Frank Wagner of Virginia's 7th District.

The next VSRA General Membership Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel in the Holley Ballroom (1st Floor). The featured Guest Speaker will be Congressman Bobby Scott of the United States House of Representatives.

In June 2016, Opportunity Inc., in partnership with Tidewater Community College, received a $150,000 grant to develop customize training for businesses to help support their incumbent workforce.  The Hampton Roads Incumbent Worker Innovation Grant (IWT) provides employee training for small to medium-sized business in high-demand areas such as Warehousing and Logistics, Advance Manufacturing, and Transportation as well as Energy, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and Construction trades.  Congratulations to Allfirst, LLC - the first recipient of the grant. 

As a psychologist who helps businesses improve their safety and quality outcomes, I often find myself talking about the importance of respectful interactions. People working in industrial companies often think I’m referring to touch-feely, full-and-puff stuff that doesn’t really matter. So I’m happy to see research that provides evidence to which every man and woman can relate.

The 11th Annual VSRF Virtual LEGO Competition was held at Nauticus on March 23. The event broke all records, and was by all accounts a tremendous success. 22 teams and 162 students competed; adding in teachers, chaperones, technical advisors, judges, and volunteers, all told there were nearly 300 people in attendance!
