Each year, the VSRA Contracts Committee puts together a series of in-depth, informative seminars on issues related to government contracting, commercial work, and small business. This year, the Contracts Committee will host 4 in-person seminars at the VSRA Office in Downtown Norfolk's World Trade Center, from 3:00 - 4:30 PM.

Participants will also have a virtual option to attend. Following the seminars, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a networking social with hors d'oeuvres and "adult beverages."

Congress made two attempts last year to expand coverage of the Longshore Act to employees diagnosed with or quarantined because of COVID-19. Those proposed amendments would have made COVID-19 claims compensable under the Longshore Act whether or not the exposure was employment-related.

On September 24, 2021, the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force (“Task Force”) issued written Guidance to implement Executive Order 14042 (“Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors”), which was signed by President Biden on September 9, 2021. The Guidance is a key component of President Biden’s larger “Path Out of the Pandemic: COVID-19 Action Plan.”

The September General Membership Luncheon meeting was held at the Portsmouth Renaissance hotel on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. The guest speaker was Virginia Senator Jen Kiggans, who is the current representative of the 7th Senate District, and serves on the Local Government, General Laws and Technology, and Rehabilitation and Social Services Senate Committees.

As a reminder, there will be no General Membership Luncheon in October! 

Instead, the 35th  Annual VSRF Golf Tournament will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Cypress Point Country Club, 5340 Club Head Road, Virginia Beach, VA  23455.
