The February VSRA General Membership meeting of 2023 will be held at the Ted Constant Convocation Center, ODU on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. The speaker for the meeting will be Congressman Rob Wittman, U.S. House of Representatives.

The first General Membership meeting of 2023 was held on Tuesday, January 24th at the Ted Constant Center at ODU. The speaker for the meeting was our very own Bill Crow, President of the Virginia Ship Repair Association. Bill presented the VSRA Annual Report - an overview of VSRA activities, initiatives, and successes in 2022, and a look ahead at the goals for 2023.

1. What is the Form LS-202, and when is it used?

The Form LS-202, also known as the Employer’s First Report of Injury or Occupational Illness. Under Section 30(a) of the Act, an employer must file a report within 10 days of the date of any injury which causes loss of one or more shifts of work, or death (or from the date that the employer has knowledge of a disease, or infection as a result of such injury). 

The 37th Annual VSRF Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Cypress Point Country Club, 5340 Club Head Road, Virginia Beach, VA  23455.

With the success of our last Job Board Enhancement, the Virginia Ship Repair Association is excited to announce we will be conducting another VSRA JOB BOARD ENHANCEMENT LUNCH & LEARN, Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the VSRA Offices, 101 W. Main Street, Suite 5500, Norfolk, VA.  This cutting-edge application is designed to make the candidate sourcing process more efficient and effective for our members by automatically sending qualified candidates to companies based on their current job demand profile.

Our partners at Tidewater Community College are in search of Maritime Structural Fitting instructors at their Skilled Trades Academy in Portsmouth.

Ensuring our community college partners have the best instructors has a tremendous impact on bringing qualified, highly skilled workers into the Ship Repair industry.

Your active and engaged Virginia Ship Repair Foundation (VSRF) Board of Directors has embarking on a new partnership in summer of 2022 with the Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU).  This partnership was forged with the goal and objective to provide valued educational opportunities to our VSRA member companies and their employees. VWU has developed four off the shelf educational programs for our ship repair industry students.

This is a 1/2 day seminar sponsored by the VSRA Human Resources Committee and offered to VSRA members and non-members. The seminar covers a variety of topics essential to the HR Professional. Registration launches March 1, 2023 for the VSRA Human Resources Professional Developments Seminar scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
