July Membership Meeting Guest Speaker Rear Admiral Richard D. Berkey

Rear Adm. Berkey is a native of Windber, Pa., and entered the Navy through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program at Pennsylvania State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1983 and later qualified as a surface warfare officer on board USS Farragut (DDG 37).

June Membership Meeting guest speaker Rear Admiral Michael T. Franken

Rear Adm. Franken assumed the post of Chief of Legislative Affairs for the Secretary of the Navy in June 2012. In that position, he serves as the principal liaison between members of Congress and the Department of the Navy leadership.

 ... and the “THE YARD!" Winner is ... HII - Newport News Shipyard! 

“THE YARD!" competition was held on Saturday June 15^{th, from} 10:00 a.m. to Noon. VSRA, along with FM 99, hosted “The Yard” Cardboard Boat Face Off competition at the Hilton Garden in Harbour View, Suffolk.

2013 SENIOR TRADESMAN OF THE YEAR

The winner of the 2013 Senior Tradesmen of the Year award was announced at the May General Membership Luncheon meeting. This year’s award went to Mr. Dennis Bueso with Oceaneering International.
