“The Yard” Bragging Rights Competition
…and the Winner is…..

“THE YARD!" competition was held on Saturday June 15th, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. VSRA, along with FM 99, hosted “The Yard” Cardboard Boat Face Off competition at the Hilton Garden in Harbour View, Suffolk. Teams representing the areas local ship yards built their own vessel out of corrugated cardboard and duct tape, and put them to the test on the water. Crofton Diving tested them for weight bearing strength and buoyancy. The ships that stayed afloat the longest, most closely resembled a Naval Vessel and had the highest amounts of exposed cardboard accumulated a score to determine the winner.
In addition to the contest, there were activities and games for kids, a raffle and a hot dog bar.
