David E. Baker became the General Manager of NASSCO Norfolk in May 2012. He is responsible for overseeing NASSCO Norfolk’s ship repair operations.
Mr. Baker began his maritime career as an ensign in the United States Navy in 1985. In 1990 Mr. Baker transferred from active duty Navy to the Naval Reserve force. He reached the rank of Captain while holding positions of responsibility as the executive officer and commanding officer of several reserve units. He joined NASSCO in June 1990, as a master planner scheduler. Over the years, he progressed through the ranks of production to include new construction Area Manager, Repair Ship Manager, New Construction Ship Manager and Commercial Program Manager. In November 2011 Mr. Baker transferred to NASSCO Norfolk and was responsible for the production and program management as the Assistant General Manager.
Mr. Baker was born in Holden, Massachusetts in 1961. He earned a bachelor’s degree in applied science from the United States Naval Academy in 1985.
