Mark Whitney is Deputy General Manager for BAE Systems Ship Repair and Interim General Manager of Norfolk Ship Repair. He is responsible for assisting in the leadership and business development activities of the company's four shipyards, as well as leading the operations of the Norfolk, Virginia shipyard. He assumed the role in 2020.
Prior to his current position, Whitney served in the U.S. Navy for more than 30 years. Most recently, he was Fleet Maintenance Director for U.S. Fleet Forces Command, directing the planning and execution of all ship maintenance for East Coast ships and submarines.He has also served as Deputy Commander for Logistics, Maintenance and Industrial Operations on the Naval Sea Systems Command Staff and the 47th commander of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Bremerton, Washington. He retired from the Navy in August 2019.
Whitney earned a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering from the Maine Maritime Academy and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
