Cableway Improvement Program (CIP) Installation, Repair and Inspection (November 3-7) CANCELLED

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

Introduction to Blueprint Reading & Technical Drawing (November 3-7) CANCELLED

This course is designed for rising welders, pipefitters, ship-fitters, electricians and workers who need a working knowledge of blueprint technology, symbols and design features specific to ships.

Human Resources Committee Meeting

Our speaker for the November meeting will be local white-collar criminal defense attorney Trey Kelleter.  Trey’s presentation, “Government Investigations - Invited and Uninvited” focuses both on what to do when government agents knock on the door unannounced and on when a business may well want to ask the government to step in and assist with an investigation in the workplace.  Trey has spent a career defending clients here in Hampton Roads.  He is quite familiar with the challenges faced by our member companies when accusations of wrongdoing involving the company or its employees come up, as well as what to do when companies need to report suspected criminal activity to the authorities.  We hope you can join us for what promises to be an informative and valuable session on November 5^th.

Our presenter for the November committee meeting will be Paul Hawkins of Gentry Locke Attourneys. The topic for this meeting will be “Extraordinary Contractual Actions” under FAR Part 50 and DFARS Part 250. This presentation will outline the background and purpose of these provisions in the FAR, when extraordinary contractual relief is available to contractors and what types of remedies are available, and the process for requesting such relief.

OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (November 17-18)

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.
