We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Inspector for our growing organization in Portsmouth / Norfolk / Newport News, VA. Highly qualified candidate must understand and enforce the Quality Assurance (QA) program to ensure company production efforts are in compliance with customer directives, requirements and specifications and the Quality Management System. This ideal candidate will be familiar with the scope and limitations of the NDT methods. Assure Nondestructive Testing (NDT) inspections are in compliance with customer directives, requirements, and specifications. This individual will be qualified to properly set up and calibrate equipment to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Ensure the requirements set forth in the company processes and QA Manual are adhered to and enforced. Strong analytical skills required. Some travel and overtime may be required.
QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTOR REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Reports to the QA Manager
Certified VT, with ability to train to MT, PT, UT Thickness, Level II, IAW ASNT-TC1A or NSTP-271
Inspect and monitor work performed for both government and commercial clients with emphasis on shipboard work items.
Verify and witness all torqueing evolutions that are required to be documented and ensure the torqueing evolution is properly recorded and signed for certification that it is completed.
Review work packages prior to task commencement for completeness, accuracy and compliance to all technical specifications and requirements.
Reviewing and working with technical work documents.
Provide oversight and assist with the training of various production trades as they relate to QA and safety.
Generate Test and Inspection (T&I) plans.
Schedule and conduct in-process work and safety surveillances
Review post-completion final work packages
Conduct internal company audits
Define test standards and specify test equipment per T&I plans.
Ensure quality acceptance of in-process and final product prior to shipment or final turnover to the customer.
Experience reviewing QA Workbooks
High level of familiarity with NAVSEA STD Items, MIL-SPECS, and TECH PUBS applicable to U.S. Navy vessels.
Must have or be able to possess a DOD Security Clearance.
Must be willing to travel and work overtime when needed.
Technical writing ability a plus.
Support an effective QA program that meets all the requirements of the Submarine Safety Requirements Manual, the System Certification Procedures and Criteria Manual for Deep Submergence Systems, the DEI-MSD Quality Management Systems Manual, and other higher-level authority guidance.
Responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities set forth by the company Quality Management System and all other higher-level program requirements
Maintaining personal qualifications and training to support all assigned functions
Review and ensure OQE is complete and correct prior to signing as QAI.
Physical requirements may include but are not limited to: kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, working in confined spaces, exposure to hot/cold temperatures for extended periods, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
High School Diploma or equivalent with Navy ‘A’ / ‘C’ school(s) or completion of some form of vocational, maritime, or journeyman training program.
