Crane Operator

Job Description A Crane Operator must possess knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA’s) sufficient to provide a full range of crane duties. The person should also be able to consider factors such as the size, shape and location of the object as well as the availability and strength of the overhead support structures. The position communicates with co-workers in all departments, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment. Knowledge of crane operation procedures and equipment Use of Hydraulic mobile crane experience required Use of Mobile all terrain crane experience required Conventional Crawler experience a plus Qualifications and Education Requirements Competencies Communication Proficiency. Mechanical Capacity. Technical Capacity. Time Management. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school. 7 years of experience operating Cranes Preferred Education and Experience Education based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with the business necessity. Experience in a Shipyard/ Military setting Additional Eligibility Qualifications Knowledge of Crane operating procedures and equipment Coordinate and arrange the work of several trades Solid ability to perform work received from technical documents, specifications, and written and/ or oral instructions. NCCCO, NACB and CDL Class A License (a PLUS++) Required Tools Needed Tape Measure (25 Ft. min) Micrometer Crescent Wrench (min 8” adjustable wrench) Claw Hammer (16oz) Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the shipyard work environment can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 85 pounds or heavier. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position periodically requires long hours and weekend work. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is an essential function and a prerequisite to perform other essential functions of the position.
