George G. Sharp, Inc Position Description Pipe Fitter/Brazer The Pipe Fitter shall lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms using knowledge of and application of welding techniques, metallurgy, and blueprint reading. Including working to and with drawings and specifications to plan welding operations. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes and standards. The Pipe Fitter/Brazer shall have: a) High school degree or a technical vocational high school degree b) Minimum of two (2) years of shipboard experience in the position, and c) Maintain Journeyman level of competence in their related trade skill d) Be able to lift and move 50 pounds and be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships. Note: Due to the nature of the work, crossing of trade boundaries will be required (i.e., paint touch up will not require a painter in most cases, each person will clean up after themselves thus not requiring sweepers/cleaners, mechanics will be expected to rig their own gear vice needing rigging, etc.) Desired Certifications/Qualifications: Confined Space (OSHA 1915.12(d) 10 Hour OSHA Training Respirator Waste Drain/CHT Piping Removal (IAW NSI 009-88) Group P101-P107 Filler F101 IV/F102 V/F103 III _____________________________________
