Structural Superintendent/Foreman

Our growing organization is seeking an experienced Structural Superintendent / Foreman for our Chesapeake, VA location. The Structural Superintendent / Foreman is the single point of contact, and technical expert, for their trade. This position ensures that their trade meets all the commitments assigned to them. This position directs, manages, and controls their trade processes and procedures for a given trade in support of safety, quality, schedule, and cost constraints. Job Requirements Structural Superintendent / Foreman General Accountabilities: In-depth knowledge in all facets of their trade relating to ship repair. Working knowledge of contracting and estimating procedures. Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of production processes, methods, quality, and technology. Single point of contact and technical expert for their trade(s); Responsible for all trade-specific technical direction, process, procedures, work instructions, techniques, methodologies, qualifications, standard item compliance, specifications, etc. Plans projects and manages manpower and resource requirements to support Production / Contract requirements. Ensures development and best usage of facilities, tooling and personnel resources. Ensures all employees are properly supervised and have all the necessary tooling, equipment, specifications, drawings and procedures to properly accomplish their jobs. De-conflicts work and priorities between contracts and informs the Production Manager of any potential problem that jeopardizes completion of quality work within budget and schedule. Attends production meetings and coordinates their assignments with other shops and ensures projected goals are met and all issues are being addressed. Defines, measures, and controls production quality within the trade. Monitors processes for continuous improvement and ensures the fullest support by all supervision. Monitors trade / shop rework trends and implements corrective action. Works with trade / shop personnel to develop training plans and ensures all personnel, including temporary labor, have been properly trained. Analyzes and develops safety policies and procedures to ensure company goals are achieved. Controls, coordinates, and manages trades. Has responsibility for trade performance to meet contract quality, schedule and budget performance. Estimating work and advising on estimates and costing data. Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned Structural Superintendent / Foreman Job Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent 12 years directly related ship building/ship repair experience in supervisory roles. Minimum of one year experience in quality assurance procedures and requirements as they relate to shipboard equipment and systems Minimum 2 years of Foreman/Supervisor experience. Experience in reading and interpreting blue prints, technical manuals and other technical data and in sequencing work appropriately to eliminate repeating work efforts Ability to obtain access to military installations. Ability to identify the critical path and manage the subordinate activities to achieve on time project completion. Effective leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Proven ability in manage and lead people in a challenging environment. Proficient in Microsoft products.
