FSG Master Tradesperson 4 HII FLEET SUPPORT GROUP (0480) Virginia Beach-Virginia-United States 30444BR External Job Description This position is Located in JEB Little Creek. The Welding position provides support of Coastal Riverine Group Two in their efforts to maintain their Fleet of primarily Aluminum hulled small craft. Position Specifics: *This position requires a SECRET level security clearance. The selected candidate must have 3 consecutive years of experience repairing and troubleshooting hull damage to rails, hull structure, cabin tops and any other metal areas relating to CESE and boats. Extensive knowledge of technical requirements is a must. Candidate must be able to demonstrate ability to identify complex problems and solutions as well as supervise lower level employees. Prior experience with MIG/TIG welding service in accordance with Naval Ships’ Technical Manual Chapter 074 Volume 1 Welding and Allied Processes is required. The selected candidate will be required to perform service in accordance with NAVSEA T0300-AU-SPN-010 Fabrication, Welding and Inspection of Small Boats and Craft, Aluminum Hulls. Required certifications: Certified in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Gas Metal Arc Welding Pulse (GMAW-P) using 5356 filler wire per NAVSEA T0300-AU-SPN-010, page 72, Table 23 applicable OEM tech manuals. Master understanding of production and processes. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. May provide direction and lead others. May manage one or more multiple jobs. Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools. Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform quality inspections on finished product. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
