Overview
The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a Jr. Machine Data Analytics Engineer to join our Philadelphia Engineering Office. The GBS Group designs and delivers high technology services and solutions to most advanced naval and maritime ships, as well as to special purpose platforms and assets. Our office is located at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, which is a dynamic urban development, offering the Philadelphia region a unique and centrally-located waterfront business campus committed to smart energy innovation and sustainability. The Navy Yard has over 20 acres of parks, one mile of waterfront trail and is located less than one-half mile from the Wells Fargo Center, Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, as well as the retail/entertainment center Xfinity Live!
Responsibilities
Analytics Professionals are the data driven, business professionals using quantitative methods such as business simulations, data mining, and advanced statistical techniques to solve problems for external GBS customers.
Create new ways of visualizing machine sensor-based data; connect data back to the design and validation process using programs like excel, R, and Tableau, segment machine application profiles to better understand operator’s behavior; extract key performance metrics from large numbers of equipment running in real world applications; data quality investigation to ensure accurate results.
Analyze data of ship board compressors and AC systems
Apply Machine Learning to time-series machine data sets
Research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, and systems.
Use tools such as R, Tableau
Support data visualizations
Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:
Applicants must have completed an Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Desired Characteristics:
Masters degree from an accredited college or university
Interest in pursuing a career in Data Mining, Simulation, and Optimization with a strong focus on machine operation and validation
Experience with Python, R, Tableau, MySQL, C++, C#, JavaScript or similar tools
Strong technical and problem-solving skills
Self-Initiative
Effective communicator
Work well in team environment
