We are seeking to fill an INSTRUCTOR position to train our employees in one or all of the following areas:
As an INSTRUCTOR for Lyon Shipyard, you will help employees attain their career goals.
The successful candidate is motivating, engaging, mentoring, encouraging, and fundamentally passionate about shipyard trades, and wants to help new employees gain confidence and the skills necessary to excel in his or her trade. The right candidate will be a role model, help develop their workmanship and skill level for each trade through classroom and practical hands-on training.
Set curriculum and plan lessons for the classroom.
Preparation and delivery of coursework based on the operational needs of Lyon Shipyard.
Regularly monitors attendance and progress
Maintaining communication with all shop supervisors; fully understand the operational needs of the yard.
Work with students to address any issues that may impede their progress and respond to student retention and classroom management issues.
Promotes a positive environment with professional appearance and cultivate cooperative learning by maintaining the standards set by Lyon Shipyard.
10 years minimum professional and practical experience working as an instructor at a VoTech facility or apprenticeship program, or its equivalent in trade and training experience.
Must possess or be able to obtain trade certification
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend and squat.
Technical expertise in all of the subjects in which the Instructor will be teaching.
Knowledge and understanding of the demands for each of the trades.
