Driver/Material Handler

Position Title: Material Handler/Driver Work Location: Chesapeake, VA FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt REQ#22_121908 Summary of duties – Candidate to perform general manual labor tasks including running errands, sweeping, loading, lifting, and moving and transporting equipment/material (15 to 70 pounds). Candidate works under direct supervision following clear and detailed instructions. Candidate may be assigned duties and responsibilities of other positions for which qualifications are met. Specific description of duties To include but are not limited to assisting in storage and staging of various tools/ materials; transportation of tools/material to the worksite; physically loading and unloading delivery vehicles; route mapping skills; general cleanup/daily housekeeping; and heavy lifting of tools/ material/equipment. Overtime is routinely required but not guaranteed with some weekend work Local travel required and travel outside the local area may be required Possession of an active State Driver’s License is required, no CDL required Must be able to drive various size and type trucks up to a 26-foot and forklift Must be customer service oriented, picking up materials and delivering to military installations. Periodic driving records (annual) may be requested for review from State DMV facilities. If unsatisfactory records occur disciplinary actions may result. Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives and goals. Education/Specialized Training HS diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations Must have a basic understanding of standard power tools and possess the ability to read / follow simple instructions. Written and verbal communication skills Ability to lift 50lbs Possess or have ability to obtain forklift certification Background and Security Clearance Clearance up to secret level may be required. Background check Drug screening Physical/Environmental Job Requirements Physical requirements include the following: Lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds Routinely climbing several flights of stairs Performing tasks in confined spaces Our work is primarily onboard naval vessels that may include variables of physical activity, i.e. stooping, climbing, walking, etc. In performing these duties, you may be required to work outdoors. You will experience temperature variations, extremely loud noises and other physical hazards.
