Director of Programs (PNW)

The Director of Programs will implement and execute policies and leadership to provide the overall direction of the business unit in alignment with the Company and Corporate strategic goals. As one of the senior leaders in the company, the Director of Programs (PNW) independently leads and manages the priorities for all business unit operations and responsible for the overall performance of the business unit. The Director of Programs (PNW) will plan, direct, and coordinate operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of subordinate staff managers. The Director of Programs (PNW) is required to optimize the program’s contribution to both the short and long term Company goals. This position must focus on and manage the processes that will control safety, quality, cost, and schedule, as well as, customer satisfaction. II.POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training) Typically has a MA/MS or BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related academic field plus 25 years directly related experience, including prior management responsibility in professional services company or related industry. III.POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience) •Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and facilitate the information flow between external and internal constituents •Extensive experience in customer development and satisfaction •Must possess the ability to lead others and create a supportive, collaborative work environment. •Must possess electrical, mechanical, troubleshooting, cost management and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities •Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to form strong relationships and communication channels across the organization •Experience working within a “Cost-Type” or “Fixed Type” Contract environment is a plus, but not a prerequisite •Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable, insurable transportation and willing to carry a “business” type rider insurance policy if necessary while using this vehicle when accomplishing company business activities •Able to gain access to Government facilities, and able to obtain a Security Clearance once employed by NASSCO-Bremerton IV. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the General Manager. Direct and coordinate personally or through subordinate managerial personnel, activities concerned with implementation and carrying out objectives of the company. VI. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES •Confers with organization officials and staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems. •Appoints department heads or managers and assign or delegate responsibilities to them. •Directs human resource activities, including the approval of human resource plans and activities, the selection of directors and other high-level staff, and establishment and organization of major departments. •Reviews reports submitted by staff members to recommend approval or to suggest changes. •Prepares budgets for approval, including those for funding and implementation of programs. •Prepares and presents reports concerning activities, expenses, budgets, government statutes and rulings, and other items affecting businesses or program services. •Manages the program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. •Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing the program. •Direct and coordinate the program activities and exercises control over personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the program. •Selects personnel according to knowledge and experience in area with which the program is concerned. •Confers with staff to explain the program and individual responsibilities for functions and phases of the program. •Reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished towards specified program objectives and modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities, in order to obtain the objectives. •Controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations. •The position will manage a group of 5 to 8 Department Managers, and have indirect management influence on the entire organization. VII. ACCOUNTABILITY This is a high impact position with influence on the following: major customer accounts, cost savings to the bottom line profitability of the company, and fulfillment of customer demands. VIII. STANDARD EQUIPMENT ISSUE Smart phone, laptop computer IX. UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job.
