Lead site/ship checks for structural drawing development.
Review vendor installation control drawings to develop technical guidance packages.
Prepare technical guidance packages for the development of ship installation drawings.
Lead development efforts for drawing and work specifications for maritime upgrades.
Provide expertise to assist in proposal and bid creations.
Prepares layouts and specifications, review designs and drawings, and assures that the deliverable meets performance requirements.
Provide guidance and mentoring to designers and drafters.
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent with at least 15 years in the Maritime Industry or applicable field.
Must have direct experience with the development process for drawings for U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC), and commercial ships and vessels. Individual should be knowledgeable in NAVSEA, American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS), and Coast Guard standards and specifications.
Must have the skills and ability in AutoCAD to develop detailed structural drawings from initiation to approval, i.e., foundations and arrangement drawings.
Must have the ability to perform technical evaluations for welds and provide acceptable substitutes for materials based on engineering evaluation of material properties, environmental considerations, and service conditions.
Must have experience with weld requirements.
Must have the ability to lead shipchecks to capture current conditions and other data points for technical deliverable development.
Must have the skills and ability to lead design reviews to produce Red-Lines for drawing development
Must have the ability and skills to monitor and control drawing development for Hull/Structure, Arrangements, and Outfitting including but not limited to, deck and bulkhead mods, compartment and access mods, temporary access, equipment and machinery foundations, and habitability mods.
Must have the ability to Review/Develop engineering and design changes with the appropriate corrective actions.
Must have the ability to work independently, make designs decisions, and provide guidance.
Must have the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to accomplish a specific task.
Must have the ability in interpersonal skills as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Have and Associates Degree.
Have knowledge of Finite Elements Analysis (FEA)
Have skills and certifications in CAD.
Have skills and experience in team leadership.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Must be willing to travel CONUS/OCONUS
Must be able to work in an office, industrial or shipboard environment.
Capable of climbing ladders (including ship masts) and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys.
Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a lap top computer.

Engineering Design workers are typically responsible for the generation of panel layouts, sub assemblies, schematics, wiring diagrams, wire run lists, component selection, etc. for electrical systems of large scale industrial machinery. The main tool for design documentation is AutoCAD.
•Assure drawings and layouts are accurate, complete, and finished in a timely manner.
•Generation and maintenance of bill of materials and parts lists.
•Applying Engineering design techniques and utilize calculations in support of design/experimental activities.
•Develop electrical wiring schematics, sub-assembly drawings, and bills of material for control system design.
•Identify and solve technical engineering problems.
•Provide or assist in the creation of technical descriptions of operation, equipment checkout procedures, technical reports, user manuals and other documentation as required.
•Release components and system designs for manufacture of orders.
•Estimate man-hours required for tasks and report progress on assigned tasks.
•Provide plans, schedules, and estimates for technical programs.
•Work in conjunction with other groups to organize and plan assigned projects.
A BSEE / BSET or Two Year Electrical Technical Degree is typically required.
1-5 years experience in CAD electrical design related to ship repair/maintenance using recent versions of AutoCAD
Must be able to read, interpret and produce engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, point-to-point drawings, and engineering fabrication drawings
Must be able to work aboard vessels, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Must be a team player
Must be flexible in reference to project priorities
Must be willing to assemble technical manuals
