Project Manager/Superintendent - Ship Repair (Preservation)
Location: Norfolk, VA
Project management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of preservation projects on time within budget and scope. The successful candidate will work directly with clients and manage skilled tradesmen to ensure deliverables comply with contract directives.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and budget.
• Manage the project work scope, schedule, and objectives.
• Manage project planning efforts to accomplish schedule milestones.
• Manage changes of contract requirements and resultant alterations to budget and schedule.
• Report to management, as necessary.
• Manage the relationship with the client and all affected parties.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and submittals.
• Interface with clients to ensure contract requirements are achieved.
• Oversee quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
• Demonstrated working experience in ship repair preservation projects.
• Proficient in organizing job resources, supervising trade managers and subcontractors, understanding the process of surface preparation and coatings application.
• Working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items, USCG and MSC General Technical Requirements
• Understands contract requirements. Familiar with evaluating labor and material costs.
• Working knowledge of contract specifications, Inspection / Deficiency Reports (IDRs), and Condition Found Reports (CFRs)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and operating office equipment.
• Familiarity with scheduling and scheduling software.
• Successful candidate must be able to hold a DBIDS access (Defense Biometric Identification System)
• NACE, NBPI or relevant certifications desired
