Nationwide Skilled Trades is actively seeking a Marine Diesel Mechanic for a long term position at a local Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia!
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years experience required
Shipyard experience is REQUIRED
Must pass pre employment drug screen, background check
Pay is depending on experience
Responsibilities:
Repairs and maintains diesel engines used to power machines, such as buses, ships, trucks, railroad trains, electric generators, and construction machinery, using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools: Diagnoses trouble, disassembles engines, and examines parts for defects and excessive wear
Reconditions and replaces parts, such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings, using engine lathes, boring machines, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required
Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
Repairing or replacing associated parts, including air compressors, small generators, trucks and small tools
