Environmental Manager

Colonna's Shipyard is looking to obtain experienced candidates within our Safety Department. We are pleased to accept resumes for Environmental Manager. This is a full-time position with competitive pay, based on experience, and immediate work within our headquarters in Norfolk, VA. Responsibilities: -Provide environmental leadership and support business units to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and adherence to company policy and environmental objectives. -Coordinate with business units to ensure implementation and sharing of best practices. -Conduct internal environmental audits of programs, facilities and projects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. -Identify and monitor environmentally significant issues and advise management on the appropriate action to help develop and maintain Colonna’s reputation as an environmental leader. -Identify new regulations and requirements that directly affect our business and develop implementation and compliance strategies to ensure compliant transition and adoption. -Provide training and guidance on the implementation of Colonna’s Environmental Management System. -Ensure the appropriate management practices and IT technology is being used by business units to manage Colonna’s environmental responsibilities efficiently and effectively. -Support the development of environmental staff in the operating group to ensure employee engagement. -Work with other Managers and Director’s to continue to improve Colonna’s environmental program and adapt to changes in the business environment with the objective of improving Colonna’s competitive advantage. -Represent company in meetings, seminars, committees etc. -Must have regular, reliable attendance -Other duties as assigned Qualifications: -Obtain all environmental permits necessary for ship repair operation of and other related operations to ensure compliance. -Develop, implement, and maintain an environmental compliance database which coordinates compliance reports to agencies or parties, coordinates monitoring to meet permit conditions, and brings all worksite facilities into compliance with environmental laws. -Develop, implement, and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) which coordinates legal requirements and compliance tasks, establishes environmental objectives and targets, determines roles and responsibilities for environmental activities, and maintains a document and record system. -Strong technical and regulatory knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures -Excellent public speaking skills and ability to establish relationships with all levels of management, internal, and external customers. -Sound decision making ability with the experience to balance consensus with authority -Team player with strong leadership skills who can operate effectively within a management environment -Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines -Demonstrated proficiency of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) -Advanced written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information -Solve technical problems and develop solutions to meet environmental requirements. -Prepare reports associated with environmental performance (e.g., DMR, emissions, spills, etc.). -Assist facility with wastewater and solid waste monitoring, sampling and testing programs and activities as needed to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and permit limitations. -Participate in audits and other regulatory compliance assurance activities. -Coordinate plant inspection programs to ensure compliance with VA DEQ, EPA and corporate standards -Knowledge of NPDES, Title V Air, RCRA, EPA, VA DEQ, USCG other regulation.
