CNC Machinist - 5740 (Mech Tech H 3) Requisition Number: 5740 Required Travel: 0 - 10% Employment Type: Full Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt Hours Per Week: 40 Security Clearance: No Clearance Level of Experience: Senior Job Description We are looking for an exceptional CNC machinist to join our rapid expanding, strategic and diverse team here at the center of excellence for HII Mission Technologies Unmanned Systems. The COE is a state of the art facility outfitted with the newest DMG Mori machining centers, temperature controlled, brightly lit and has an immensely clean environment. Using Siemens CAD/CAM software to utilize our 5 axis capabilities, we will be making a remarkable range of highly precise machined parts. This position is compensated competitively and has an unparalleled work environment. This new team member will help us work on a variety of exciting unmanned contracts, assist in the development of work processes and manufacture tight GD&T dimensioned product. The ideal candidate possesses skillful problem-solving, immeasurable attention to detail and pronounced communication skills. 5th axis milling experience is required and DMG Mori CELOS controller experience is preferred. Essential Job Responsibilities Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. May modify numerically controlled programs on numerically controlled (NC) machines. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Minimum Qualifications 5 years of related experience with High School diploma/GED and/or certification in assigned area preferred A minimum of 2 years 5th axis Milling experience #LI-MH1 *MV *NEG *SG Preferred Requirements Experience with DMG Mori CELOS controller. Experience with Lean Six Sigma manufacturing. Experience with CAD/CAM programming (Siemens NX). Experience machining titanium. Experience machining with tight GD&T constraints. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
