Where Hard Stuff is Done Right! HII Unmanned Systems is looking for a responsible Quality Inspector to check the quality of in-process and outgoing material and products. You will be a firm advocate of quality in our business. The ideal candidate will possess a trained eye for detail and will be reliable and committed. Knowledge and comprehension of quality standards is essential. The goal is to ensure that our products are made of flawless materials with well-functioning equipment that meet our customer's high standards by performing the following duties. - Inspecting output samples using industry appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality - Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with legal requirements - Reviewing blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods - Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database - Training the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence - Proposing improvements to the production process - Monitoring the use of equipment to ensure it is safe and discard any that do not meet requirements - Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training - Keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs - Approve or reject materials with respect to quality standards and record performance - Maintain records of testing, information and various metrics such as number of defective products per day etc. - Prepare and submit reports to management What you will be doing... Performs required inspections and nondestructive tests (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for Naval reactor plants and associated systems, in support of ship construction, overhaul, refueling and repair contracts. This job reports to a Supervisor, Inspection and works under general supervision. Work is performed within the confines of standardized Company and industry policies, practices and procedures. This job has decision-making responsibilities with regard to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed and the determination of measuring equipment used. The incumbent has the authority to halt work temporarily that would affect the reactor plant. Errors could be critical and adversely affect the Companys competitive position in the nuclear field. inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical or structural components and assemblies related to reactor plant operators. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress. What we are looking for - High School and 5 years relevant experience or Associate's Degree and 3 years relevant experience. May require certification. - Proven experience as quality inspector or relevant role - Knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies - Proven experience as quality inspector or relevant role - Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance Bonus points for... * A keen eye for detail with a results-driven approach * Responsible and trustworthy * Familiarity with quality measurement tools. * Knowledge of quality control standards is a strong plus (ISO 9000 etc.) * Working knowledge of MS Office Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
