MAINTENANCE MECHANICS

Join one of the leading shipyard teams in the Hampton Roads / Tidewater Virginia region! We’re hiring skilled Shipyard Mechanics across multiple trades — including Valve, Pump, Diesel, and Drydock Mechanics — to support U.S. Navy and commercial ship repair and shipbuilding projects.

Now Hiring For

  • Valve Mechanics: Repair, install, and test shipboard valves (steam, hydraulic, air, water, etc.) to ensure operational readiness.

  • Pump Mechanics: Inspect, overhaul, and repair centrifugal and positive displacement pumps used on naval and commercial vessels.

  • Diesel Mechanics: Maintain and repair diesel engines, generators, and auxiliary marine machinery.

  • Drydock Mechanics: Support docking/undocking operations and perform mechanical maintenance on drydock systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and test shipboard mechanical systems.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and work specifications.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments to meet shipyard and NAVSEA standards.

  • Work safely and collaboratively with other trades to meet project deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Shipyard, Marine, or Industrial Mechanic in one or more specialties (valve, pump, diesel, or drydock).

  • Must have or be eligible to obtain DBIDS access (clean background required).

  • Ability to work in shipyard environments (confined spaces, heights, outdoor conditions).

  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.

  • Reliable, safety-minded, and strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior U.S. Navy ship repair or new construction experience.

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.

  • Trade certifications (NCCER, Marine Mechanic, Diesel Certification, etc.).

  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items or shipyard work packages.
