Marine Spray Painter

TITLE: Spray Painter JOB SUMMARY: Accomplish spray painting assignments in accordance with industry standards and material product data sheets. Must be able to connect and operate various spray paint pumps including conventional, airless, and plural component units. Must understand the techniques necessary to spray apply marine coatings. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Adhere to company policies and procedures. • Maintain effective communication with the paint foreman regarding production or safety issues. • Apply coatings through conventional, airless, and plural component spray systems. • Knowledge of various painting methods and applications. • Apply masking materials to protect designated areas from overspray or drips. • Apply epoxy, polysiloxane, enamels, alkyds, polyurethane, and anti-foulants. • Operate a man lift or work at heights from system scaffold • Must Wear respirator and as well as other required PPE. Air supplied respirators may be required for some assignments. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be willing to learn, understand, and promote our ESOP culture. • Familiarity with marine coatings application techniques. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Knowledge of various coatings characteristics and application standards. • Ability to use and maintain spray equipment. • Knowledge of wet and dry film gauges. • Ability to wear a respirator. • Ability to safely work in confined or enclosed spaces. • Characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of this job. Environmental exposures are like those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fume, and smoke. • The successful candidate must possess the physical abilities necessary to perform all aspects of his or her job including but not limited to; general lifting and carrying equipment and tools, bending, and climbing. Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time. Work in various types of weather conditions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High school education or GED • Five years of verifiable experience in a marine environment. Industrial experience may be acceptable. • Shipyard experience is preferred. • Certified to SSPC C 12, SSPC C 14 or SSPC MPCAC. Non-certified individuals may be utilized on non-critical work.
