Engineer Mechanical 2 Confidential Clearance Required

Pay Range $33.81-$41.74 Description/Comment: ***ABET Engineering degree required*** Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters. Special Requirements ***Potential Hybrid Position*** Experience with the overhaul, repair, maintenance, or modernization of propulsion plant machinery and piping systems on US Navy aircraft carriers would be preferred. This position could also benefit from experience with similar systems and components on other ships or commercial power plants, such as: steam-driven and/or motor-driven pumps; valves; turbines; generators; diesel and/or steam engines; shafting; propellers; heat exchangers/condensers; distilling and potable water systems; air compressors; and steam, seawater, water, air, and oil piping systems. This position will require the ability to troubleshoot and resolve production, installation, and operational problems of complex machinery and systems. Strong communication skills and ability to liaison with suppliers, production personnel, ship's force personnel, construction management, program management, Navy oversight personnel, and members within the value stream are essential.

Information
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Education
5 years relevant experience with Bachelors; 3 years relevant experience with Masters. An additional 4 years of specific job experience with a HS diploma may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this job. This experience is in addition to the relevant years of experience listed with the job's education requirements. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience.
Qualifications
Strong background in communications; fiber optics; electrical/electronic components; generators; AC/DC and high/low voltage theory and application. Thorough knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical/electronic components; working knowledge of Key Management Infrastructure.
