MHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1.Analyzes job from start to finish ensuring proper and safe work methods used. 2.Reads and interprets work specifications, blue prints, technical manuals and schematics 3.Cleans oil liquids to include black oil, sludge, and debris from tanks, bilges and CHT systems. 4.Performs air testing on tanks. 5.Plugs, blanks and locates leaks or other problems. 6.Locates and flushes pipelines to meet gas free conditions. 7.Performs repairs on pumps and related equipment. 8.Trouble shoots systems and corrects problems. 9.Fuels and defuels ships 10.Final cleans and closes out tanks and spaces. Performs QA inspection for cleanliness prior to final tank close. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.High school diploma or equivalent. 2.At least three years of tank cleaning experience. 3.Must have the ability to carry out written or oral instructions and analytical skills to resolve issues. 4.Must be able to identifying structures, locations and spaces in which work is performed that requires testing and have knowledge of appropriate OSHA standards governing those work sites. 5.Able to calibrate and use air testing equipment. 6.Knowledge of tank cleaning operation and hot work procedures. 7.Ability to interpret specifications and engineering drawings. 8.Must be able to work effectively with others. 9.Must be steady, reliable worker MHI offers competitive wages and excellent benefit package.
