Position Title: Senior CBR Technician

Summary of duties – The Sr. CBR Technician Norfolk will provide technical support to, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division’s (NSWC IHD) Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Defense (CBRD) Division (W1) and associated Branches. This individual will provide technical support, training, and operational expertise for Chemical, Biological, and Radiological defense related to shipboard and man portable systems. Support will include ensuring CBR equipment readiness through maintenance checks, developing field testing procedures, and providing training on both current and next-generation CBRD systems.
Specific description of duties –
- Working knowledge of shipboard protocol and Naval Waterfront Maintenance and Training Community.
- Working knowledge and experience in ship-check procedures for chemical, biological, and radiological detection systems.
- Must be able to travel CONUS / OCONUS independently.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
- General Knowledge of shipboard AIT work desired.
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by the project managers to assist in accomplishing the various installations.
Education / Specialized training –
- HS diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations.
- Six (6) years of experience in shipboard systems maintenance, interpreting engineering drawings, test and evaluation, field support and training.
- Six (6) years of applicable professional experience with the operations, maintenance, training and/or repair of Navy CBR defense equipment, with emphasis on detection and identification, including process analysis and design considerations for sustainment and field support activities.
- Advanced Navy experience in Damage Control.
- Working knowledge of shipboard protocol and Naval Waterfront Maintenance and Training Community.
- Training certifications or equivalent experience in the following preferred: Life Cycle Logistics, Damage Control Management, CBR Defense Operations.
- Training certifications or equivalent experience in the following preferred: forklift driver, web-based inventory management (CMRPO), HAZMAT shipping, CBRD shipboard operations, radiation material and transportation (RAM), Assistant Radiation Safety Officer (ARSO).
- Working knowledge of Word, excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Security Clearance
- SECRET Clearance Required
Physical/Environmental Job Requirements –
Physical requirements may include:
- Ability to be able to walk reasonable distances (up to ½ mile one way) to meet with customers or other company personnel in the execution of job functions.
- Ability to be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions
