Quality Assurance Manager

Job description Reports directly to the President and is responsible for the administration of the Quality Control (QC) program. Supervises the personnel that perform the QC inspections and monitors the progress of inspections, correlates required inspection reports and keeps the Project Manager informed of any problem areas. Responsible for the maintenance of the Technical Library. Develop, implement, monitor and modify quality/inspections management processes and procedures intended to enable the timely, effective and cost-effective completion of all departmental projects. Establish the QA policies and procedures needed to assess the overall quality of work. Develop and maintain the Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manual. Effectively communicate and coordinate with all individuals and organizations charged with the accomplishment of those tasks required to schedule and complete all inspections as required by the contract. Maintain the highest achievable physical security of all assigned facilities and vessels. Provide the leadership and management necessary to achieve the highest levels of performance in the following areas: inspections / quality assurance and management. Brief the Project Manager a minimum of each week on the Quality performance and status of all ongoing and planned projects. Debrief completed projects and develop improvement plans from “lessons learned.” Maintain a good working relationship with the COR in the execution of all contract provisions. Invite, accept, consider and act on constructive criticism that will improve quality and efficiency. Professionally represent the company in all dealings with the customer, suppliers, sub-contractors and other government agencies. Provide clear, firm and consistent leadership while fostering a team culture built on the company’s core values. Ensure accountability and responsibility from all QA Ensure performance feedback, mentoring and coaching is practiced at all levels. Must be able to work effectively with co-workers in a professional manner at all times Travel as necessary (including out of country) to conduct company business. Track and maintain certifications for all qualified and trained employees to ensure quality and compliance. Establish and maintain an Internal Audit program that can accurately assist in tracking and correcting any deficiencies within the company’s written policies. Other work-related task as needed. External: Military, Sub-Contractors and government representatives QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum: Five years of field related inspection experience with at least three (3) years of managerial experience in quality inspection of ship maintenance. Must have at minimum NBPI or NACE 1 certification and a SSPC Quality Control Supervisor (QCS) certification. Preferred: An understanding of security, handling of Classified material, environmental and health monitoring and coordination requirements. Knowledge Required: Must have general computer skills and Microsoft Office program skills. Working knowledge of all test equipment and a vast understanding of NAVSEA Standard Items, SSPC Paint Manual, NSTM standards and ASTM F-718 sheets.
