2nd Class Electrician (Engineering Technician-Electrical)

Job Description: 2nd Class electricians test, manufacture, troubleshoot, repair, electrical and electronic equipment. Technicians perform a wide variety of different tasks depending on the needs of the company. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of navy 60 and 400 Hz electrical systems • Navy tag-out and WAF programs and procedures • ISO Quality Assurance practices • Maritime Safety practices • Knowledge of Navy electronic systems • Able to troubleshoot, disassemble, and inspect electrical equipment with supervision. • Able to disassemble, reassemble, and operationally test equipment with limited supervision. • Basic knowledge of electrical systems such as switchboards, switchgear, distribution panels, controls, etc. • Fully versed in the use of all types of electrical measuring instruments, and of various electronic measuring devices, such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, power analyzers and megohmmeters. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals. • Capable of cable run fabrication and wire way fabrication • Experience with cable fabrication and shore power connection a plus. • Working knowledge of trade mathematics and formulas in order to calculate voltage, amperes and resistance requirements and to determine size and types of material, such as controls, switches, distribution panels, fuses, etc. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent with Navy ‘A’ / ‘C’ school(s) or completion of some form of vocational, maritime, or electrical journeyman training program. Total Target Experience: 4-8 years.
