Electronic Technician

Integrated Solutions/VT Milcom, Virginia Beach Division, a business unit of VT Group is seeking to hire qualified shipboard Electronic Technicians. Responsibilities include: Has a thorough understanding of the installation process, the use of common and specialty hand tools, and General Purpose Electronic Test Equipment. Accomplishes tasks as assigned by the Installation Supervisor in accordance with company Work Instructions and procedures. May supervise less experienced installation team members. May be assigned the duties and responsibilities of other positions for which qualifications are met. May act as Installation Supervisor on routine or low risk installations. Specific Duties: •Opens up cableways, cable ducts, multi-cable transits (MCT) and cable trays. •Removes and installs the following: Power, signal (copper and fiber), and RF cabling. Equipment, equipment racks, lockers, and mounting hardware. Connection boxes, switches, and indicator lights. Antenna platforms, antenna mounting rings and adapters, antennas and radomes. Foundations, decking, computer decking, and support structure; and Power panels, enclosures, and connection boxes. •Moves material and equipment to and from the installation site. •Assists in fit-up and weld preparation. •Sets up boundaries and clean areas. •Stands fire watches. •Closes cable ways, cable ducts, MCTs, standpipes, and cable trays. •Paints new and disturbed cabling, lagging, foundations, mounting brackets and hardware, and structure •Provides installation assistance during SOVT. Education and/or Experience: •Apprenticeship and two years, or Associates degree and four years, or trade school and four years, or six years experience (Degree should be in Engineering, or a related field.) •Four years technical experience in installation, modification, field change, operation, maintenance, test, troubleshooting and repair of Military Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems and equipment. •Two years in a supervisory role. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Must be able to travel as required. Electrical engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacturing of electrical equipment such as electric motors, radar and navigation systems, communications systems, and power generation equipment. Electronics engineers design and develop electronic equipment, such as broadcast and communications systems—from portable music players to global positioning systems (GPS).
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years experience in electronic systems development
Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop schematics, layouts, BOM, write technical specifications, develop device and system level specification for internal use and/or external vendors or consultants

Experience in the Following:
Design of complex power systems, analog/digital, PLC, sensory/control circuits
Experience working with electro/mechanical technicians for parts and system integration
Interface with outside vendors, consultants, and driving external design resources
Proficiency in development of schematics and layouts
Proficiency in use of AutoCAD and or Inventor 3D modeling and collaboration
Knowledge of electrical codes and related regulations
Organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate electrical engineering problems and prediction of results
Estimate labor or material costs from blueprints or work plans
Work cooperatively with others
Review or check the work products of others to ensure conformance to standards
