Job Summary:
Assist the safety manager in developing and implementing safety procedures and programs to drive results within the region with the approval of the Safety Director.
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to join our team. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing safety programs, conducting safety inspections on ships, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
Must have the physical ability to continually walk up and down ladder wells, gangways, ramps ETC.
Minimum 3 years shipyard experience. Knowledge of Painting, sandblasting, and water jetting is a plus.
Perform daily safety walks and record discrepancies for corrective action.
Knowledge of CFR 29 1915. / Navsea Standard items
Hold and record weekly gang box training on all jobs
Maintain records of all training for future use.
Understand all aspects of shipyard safety policies.
Fill out weekly NESHAP reports.
Understanding of workers comp. procedures is a plus.
Understanding of OSHA record keeping is a plus.
High school diploma.
Must be able to have access to all Military bases.
Must be able to access HII in Newport News
Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar role with knowledge of Workers Compensation is a plus
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety standards
- Strong understanding of root cause analysis techniques
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, or related fields is a plus
