Process Development Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Candidate will be a key support for the development and oversight of the Quality Management System (QMS) for all Planning Contracts based out of Norfolk, VA. The Process Development Assistant will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support for Specification Development and Availability Execution Support (SDAES)for CG 47, DDG 51, DDG 1000, LHA 6, LHD 1, LSD 41/49, LPD 17, and LCS 1/2 class ships for the U.S. Navy. The Process Development Assistant will manage approximately 180 documents in the QMS system comprised of processes, forms, and flowcharts. The ideal candidate must be able to draw process sketches from verbal discussions with personnel as they discuss their various tasks.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide technical and administrative support for SDAES, which conducts advanced planning for maintenance availabilities on CG-47, DDG 51, DDG 1000, LHA 6, LHD 1, LSD 41/49, LPD 17, and LCS ½ class ships for the U.S. Navy
  • Assist in managing over 180 SDAES Level 3-4 documents within the Quality Management System (QMS), consisting of processes, forms, and flowcharts
  • Facilitate group discussions, both in person and remotely, to draft process changes and reach consensus solutions
  • Gather facts, analyze data and prepare project synopses comparing alternatives; recommend actions and prepare specifications
  • Resolve data collection problems and coordinate work with personnel
  • Prepare technical reports for use by engineering, scientific, operational, or management personnel

 

Job Requirements/skill sets:

  • Must have experience in ISO9001:2015, Quality Management System development, and Navy Standard Item 009-04
  • Must have experience in Process development (inputs and outputs, process flow)
  • Must have experience in generating flowcharts and technical documents to provide chronological steps to complete various tasks
  • Must be able to facilitate group discussions, both in person and remotely, to draft process changes and reach consensus solutions
  • Must have experience and be proficient in Microsoft Excel (basic spreadsheets; functionality formula manipulation) Microsoft Word (formatting and developing processes), and Visio (flow chart development)
  • Must have the proven ability to communicate effectively with Senior Management and Government Officials
  • Prefer experience working in a SUPSHIP/Naval shipyard environment including both planning and engineering organizations
  • Prefer Navy Waterfront Maintenance experience. Working knowledge of the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM), ship repair planning and estimating requirements, U.S. Navy surface ship maintenance and modernization planning processes, and use of the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD)

 

 

Education Requirements: Must have a BA Degree and at least 4 years’ experience OR Associates and at least 8 years’ experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 10 years’ technical or operational experience (specifically military experience will be considered in lieu of education).

 

Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access:  U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and/or be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
