HIS Job DESCRIPTION:
PAI: Permit Authorizing Individual
Knowledgeable or willingness to learn VSRA Hot Work Permit and Protocols
Fire Watch Certified or past certification useful (VSRA Fire Watch Card even if expired)
Knowledge or willingness to learn:
OSHA Hot Work Rules in Subpart P
& NAVSEA Standard Item 009-08 (or 008)
This is a job that requires employees to access US Navy ships daily
40-hour week minimum expectation
Cannot be claustrophobic, or be afraid of height
Able to climb straight ladders; access confined spaces;
walk vessel ramps; climb multiple stairs
Able to access VSRA Shipyards (Security and background checks)
Clean Drug test will be required
Lead 2 to 4 (normally) firewatchers to common goal
Master the VSRA Hot Work Permit
Monitor, correct and be responsible
Ensure hot work operators follow procedures
Follow the directions of the Hot Work Supervisor
Be professional with others / customer
Keep work area clean
Volunteering for Overtime may be an option
Steel-toed shoes required to be worn entire shift
Hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection to be worn constantly
Respirator use may be required, NO facial hair where the seal of the mask touches your face
